The Beyond Boundaries Program will prepare student scholars to engage in interdisciplinary teams and will center around three pillars:
Throughout their time in the program, students will focus on three questions:
- What role(s) do I want to play on collaborative problem-solving teams?
- What skills, knowledge, and partnership are necessary for interdisciplinary work?
- How can I use my time at Washington University to grow these skills?
Not only did Beyond Boundaries provide a welcoming community to me during my first year at WashU, but it also allowed me to explore my academic interests across disciplines and collaborate with other highly motivated students.

Why choose the Beyond Boundaries Program?
Students accepted into this program will have opportunities to explore topics – from climate change to aging to entrepreneurship – from multiple disciplinary perspectives.
The program curriculum will teach students how to view these major issues through teamwork and collaboration, with teams of professors from across WashU’s schools teaching Beyond Boundaries courses.
